Description: Pilates circuit training is an innovative way to take small groups of clients and provide an inventive and cardio driven circuit training session. Pilates based repertoire and utilization of props will be spliced into rotations and sequences of 3-4 circuits to keep your heart rate pounding, balance challenged while tying back to traditional and foundational movements. This total body workshop will leave you with creative new sequences as well as feeling 3 inches taller, functionally fit and rejuvenated from head to toe.

Workshop: Discover your Reciprocity

Presenter: Dr. Brent Anderson & Viktor Uygan.
Description: Join Viktor Uygan and Dr. Brent Anderson for a fun, scientific and practical course that focuses on human reciprocal motion. Reciprocal movement is present in all human activities and yet sedentarism restricts reciprocal motion. Even on the Reformer, there is not an abundance of reciprocal motion. Brent will discuss how human anatomy, biomechanics and biotensegrity all spontaneously support reciprocal movement. Viktor will create reciprocal movement experiences using the Konnector® and the Konnections® systems to explore reciprocity, proprioception, and dynamic alignment. Participants are guaranteed to laugh, learn, and experience the human right to rotate.

Learn to speak their language while you showcase the importance of the Pilates system in “their world”. Workshop: Expanding your Pilates with the CoreAlign

Presenter: Joy Puleo.
Description: The CoreAlign is often referred to as the missing link in the Pilates studio. The ability to reciprocally train the limbs and the upright nature of the exercises creates a rich neuromotor environment in which to train strength, endurance and quality movement patterns. In this workshop, Joy will introduce you to the CoreAlign, explore the upright strength and endurance exercises, and show how they relate to and can be replicated in Pilates environment.

Workshop: Form & Function: From the Manual to the Movement

Description: While going through teacher training is incredibly important and creates the foundation for any modality, Pilates or otherwise, it's important to gain confidence in teaching to the body or bodies in front of you. Shapes, images, and videos of execution are great, yet honing and harnessing your ability to set up, move and coach simultaneously is critical to designing and successfully delivering class formats that keep your students returning time and time again. In this workshop, we'll play with coaching drills to help you untether yourself from the shape in the manual and joyfully explore moving and training the mover(s) in front of you IN REAL TIME + make an impact on both their lives AND your teaching! You’ll also walk away with creative flows to add to your classes.

Workshop: Wisdom, Agility and Resilience: Pilates and Aging

Description: This workshop is based on the published article “Aging and the Cost of Inactivity: How Mindful Movement and Pilates can Stem the Tide” which reveals what many of us already know....to stay healthy throughout our lifespan, we must move. However, the strategies of how to train and move clients evolves throughout the adult experience. Training for adaptability and agility is key to success and not uniform from decade to decade. In this workshop we will discuss the realities of aging on our health and the role of movement/exercise as a tool to hold off age related decline. We will discuss falls, fall prevention, the importance of eccentric training and how our unique Pilates environment can support longevity.

Workshop: Bioneuropsycho-lates Treatment for Chronic Pain

Presenter: Dr. Brent Anderson.
Description: Dr. Anderson will simplify the often-complex model for treating individuals who suffer from chronic pain and present it in a way that can be used immediately by Pilates teachers and therapists. There will be discussion of different roots of pain and why pain responds differently to pharmacology, psychology, and different therapies. This workshop will explain why the Pilates Method is so successful with many, but not all forms of chronic pain, and show how to integrate different treatment interventions into a Pilates session. Learn how to differentiate types of chronic pain and how to most effectively and appropriately work with pain in your studios and clinics.

Description: The psoas connects three dynamic areas of the body, the spine, pelvis and femur. It is the connection point between the upper and lower body and in this role, it can become imbalanced or dysfunctional due to imbalanced movement patterns, postural deviations or structural challenges. Understand the anatomy, structure and functions of the psoas and how to balance it in the Pilates studio. Balancing the psoas can improve many common issues related to lower back pain, hip pain and other conditions.
